Annual Member in Training Scientific Poster Competition

Purpose: To showcase work in medical research by South Carolina psychiatry residents and psychiatry subspecialty fellows.

Eligible: All current SCPA Members in Training who are in good standing at their residency program.

Entry Deadline: Submit abstracts by January 5, 2026. POSTER PRESENTERS must register for Conference

Criteria For Entry

Original abstracts that have or have not been presented at other meetings will be considered. Posters presented at other meetings (apart from SCPA) in the last 12 months may be submitted. Posters previously presented at an SCPA event are not eligible.
The poster can summarize original research, including data driven research, literature review, or case presentation.
Posters can have multiple authors, but only one award per poster will be given. The lead author of the poster must be an SCPA Resident Member and must be present for the poster to be judged in competition.
Medical students are also encouraged to participate and may be a co-author but may not be first author. Only one abstract per first author can be accepted. Only first author will receive prize money.
If the research content has been supported by a research grant, the lead author must be the principal investigator on the awarded grant.

Guidelines and Poster Dimensions

The body of the poster abstract should be organized as follows:

Title
Purpose of the study
Simple statement of methods
Summary of results
Statement of conclusions

Presenting author must be listed first with all other coauthors and all involved institutions, city and state. Your posters must be set up by 4:30 pm and taken down by 7:00 pm. Presenting author must attend the poster Session 4:30 pm -6:00 pm to answer any questions. Awards will be presented at the SCPA Business Meeting on Saturday, January 24. Competition will be limited to the first 20 posters. SCPA Annual Meeting registration fee will be waived for all entrants.

Poster: Poster board (size) is 4’ x 6’ or 4’ x 8’ laminated.

Poster presenters must register for the meeting.
