Board Candidate Application

The SC Psychiatric Association is comprised of many committees, both constitutional and standing committees. The work accomplished by our members in committees provides direction to Executive Council and staff on policy and advocacy efforts.

The SC Psychiatric Association offers members many opportunities to assist in leading this professional organization. They include the following:

  1. The Advocacy Committee. SCPA tracks legislation that affects mental health issues and connects with key legislators who chair House and Senate Medical Affairs Committee. On a monthly basis, SCPA holds zoom meetings that discuss important issues. Dr. Alexander McClanahan chairs this committee. Please contact him mcclanaa@musc.edu for more details.
  2. Annually, SCPA identifies topics and speakers to present at its Annual Meeting. Member input is critical. To become involved in this area, contact Dr. Frank Clark at frank.clark@prismahealth.org or Dr. Erin Seery at seery@musc.edu.
  3. During its Annual Meeting, SCPA holds a Poster Presentation Competition. Residents submit abstracts which compete for prizes. To become involved in soliciting presentations as well as evaluating them, contact Dr. Ashley Jones at ashley.jones@prismahealth.org.
  4. The SCPA Executive Council includes the President, President-Elect, Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, and APA Assembly Representatives. To become involved in the Executive Council, contact Dr. Frank Clark at frank.clark@prismahealth.org or Dr. Erin Seery at seery@musc.edu.
